Driver Flees From Vienna Crash, Charged With DWI

VIENNA, VA — A hit-and-run driver was later found asleep at the wheel and was charged with DWI on Jan. 8, according to the latest Vienna Police report.

According to police, a vehicle traveling northbound on Park Street struck a southbound vehicle near the intersection with Fardale Street SE. The driver left the scene of the crash and was later found when police received a report of a driver asleep at the wheel. Police say the vehicle was left running.

An officer found the driver showed signs of impairment and failed a series of field sobriety tests. The driver, a Vienna resident, was arrested, taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with hit-and-run and DWI. A blood sample was taken for analysis.

A citizen reported someone broke two windows on his vehicle. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the vehicle.

January 8 4:30 p.m.
An employee reported a man attempted to steal their tip jar. Employees chased the man after he grabbed the jar. Once out of the door, the man gave the jar back to the employees.

Between January 10 at 10:00 p.m. and January 11 at 5:30 a.m.
A resident reported someone rummaged through his locked vehicle. Nothing appeared to have been taken or damaged.

An officer responded to the report of someone tampering with several vehicles on Walker Circle, SW. Entry was made into the unlocked vehicles. Nothing appeared to have been taken or damaged.
