Here's How Much Rainfall Vienna Got This Weekend

Lots of rain fell on Vienna this weekend, and it looks like another flood watch is on the way.

VIENNA, VA—You don't need forecasters to tell you this weekend was a wet one for Vienna and the rest of the DC area. But if you're curious, the National Weather Service has rounded up rainfall totals for the deluge-like weather on Saturday, July 21.

Preliminary numbers from trained National Weather Service spotters show two to seven inches fell in locations around the DC area. Some of the highest rainfall totals occurred in Burke (7.15 inches) and Ripley, Md. (7 inches). Vienna was in the mid range with about 3.16 inches.

Forecasters expect multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening. Already saturated grounds and high stream levels from recent rainfall combined with new rainfall could lead to flash flooding. The risk of flash flooding could continue through Wednesday and perhaps beyond.
