I-66 Multi-Vehicle Crash, Metro Delays On 4 Lines: DC, NoVA AM Traffic

Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your morning commute on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

On the Road

As of 7:43 a.m., a crash was affecting the southbound I-495 Express Lanes at the mile marker 46.7 in Fairfax County. The southbound left shoulder and left lane are closed.

As of 7:39 a.m., a multi-vehicle crash was reported on westbound I-66 at the 55 mile marker in Fairfax County about 1.2 miles west of Fairfax County Parkway/Exit 55. The westbound right lane and right shoulder are closed.

As of 7:36 a.m., a fire response was affecting Southern Avenue in both directions between Massachusetts Avenue SE and Vine Street/Beck Street SE in Washington, DC.

As of 7:34 a.m., a disabled vehicle on westbound I-66 about 1.3 miles west of Nutley Street in Fairfax County has closed no lanes.

As of 7:34 a.m., a disabled vehicle has closed no lanes on northbound I-395 abot 0.4 miles north of Glebe Road/Exit 7B in Arlington County.

As of 7:25 a.m., a disabled vehicle blocked a center lane on southbound DC-295 in Washington DC.

As of 7:22 a.m., a disabled vehicle on the southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway blocked the right lane before Route 123 in Fairfax County.

As of 7:20 a.m., a disabled vehicle has closed no lanes on westbound I-66 about 4 miles west of US-15/Exit 40 in Prince William County.

As of 6:21 a.m., flashing traffic lights were affecting Canal Road NW in both directions at Chain Bridge in Washington, DC.

On the Rails

Network issues are impacting train service on Metro's Blue, Orange, Silver and Red Lines. Riders should expect delays and plan for additional travel time.

On the Red Line, expect delays in both directions due to a switch problem at Silver Spring.

On the Orange Line, the Minnesota Ave, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover and New Carrollton remain closed through Labor Day due to a summer platform improvement project. Local and express shuttles are available at Stadium-Armory.

The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high temperature of 93 and low of 75.
