Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a crash that killed Woodbridge and Triangle residents Thursday in Tysons.

TYSONS, VA — A single-vehicle crash in Tysons Thursday killed two people, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police responded to the crash around 3:55 a.m. on Leesburg Pike at the Chain Bridge Road interchange. The driver of a 1986 Mercedes 420 SEL was heading east on Leesburg Pike and left the roadway before the Chain Bridge Road interchange. The vehicle struck a light pole and stopped after striking a traffic signal pole, police say.

Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the two vehicle occupants dead at the scene. The driver was identified as Lori Byars, 51, of Woodbridge, and the passenger was identified as David Turch, 59, of Triangle.
