Vienna Weather Forecast: Snow Likely As Temperatures Set To Plunge

Winter is expected to come roaring back with a vengeance this weekend after a mild February.

VIENNA, VA — It looks like winter isn't quite done with us yet: Temperatures are about to take a huge dive and snow has entered the forecast for the area on Sunday, with up to an inch of accumulation possible.

Weather.com predicts that temperatures will be frigid on Sunday, with a high in the mid 30s and a low in the mid 20s. Morning snow showers could bring up to an inch of snow before noon, with a total chance of about 40 percent.

The dip in temperatures will actually begin a couple days earlier. Highs are expected to hang around near the 70s through Thursday this week before suddenly plunging to a low of about 20 degrees on Friday night, which could also result in some snow showers that night as a preview for Sunday. That's certain to be confusing for the trees and flowers that have already started blooming.

After that icy stretch, we won't immediately return to spring-like weather. Temperatures are expected to slowly inch back up into the high 40s in the middle of next week, and finally climb back into the high 50s and 60s in the latter half of this month.

So don't put away that winter coat just yet.
