Vienna's Lydia Russo Helps Community, Food Insecure Residents

VIENNA, VA — Without community leaders, Vienna wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

These submissions come from Sean Sharifi and Vicente Parra, Vienna readers who nominated Lydia Russo, the founder of the One Neighborhood Foundation and co-founder of Vienna VA Foodies.

Lydia raises money and feeds food insecure families in our area.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Lydia dedicates her time and energy for this cause, it's a full time job and she does not take a salary. She raises tens of thousands of dollars and helps provide meals for hundreds of families.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Lydia has a pure heart

She raises funds used to help feed those in need, helps struggling businesses and community groups. Volunteers at the local Fire Department.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

She goes above and beyond to help and inspire others. She has not only worked relentlessly to organize her own fundraising, but she has also helped several other women in the community start their own nonprofit vehicles to expand the number of communities served.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Lydia is 100% committed to giving to others. Whether it's funds, food, assistance, or inspiration, she goes out of her way to ensure those in need get assistance and feel the love of the community.
