Adults, Children Displaced From 2 House Fires In Prince William County

Firefighters responded to two house fires Sunday, one of which had people home at the time.

DUMFRIES, VA — Two house fires in eastern Prince William County drew a firefighter response Sunday and displaced families.

The first fire happened around 3:58 a.m. Sunday in the 19100 block of Rosings Way in Triangle. Prince William County Fire and Rescue responded to the home after a resident smelled smoke and alerted other residents. The residents safely evacuated before the fire department arrived, and there were no injuries.

The home had extensive damage from the fire, and the building official deemed it safe to occupy. Two adults and four children were displaced and are getting help from the Red Cross.

The fire marshal's office was on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

The other fire happened around 2:38 p.m. in the 3800 block of Port Hope Point in Dumfries. A neighbor had reported the townhouse was on fire, as no one was home. Firefighters found smoke showing and quickly extinguished a fire in the kitchen.

The home was deemed unsafe to occupy, displacing two adults and five children. One adult and three children are getting help from the Red Cross.

According to the fire marshal's office, the fire started in the kitchen, but the cause remains under investigation.
