Car Crosses Into Opposite Lanes, Strikes Tree In Fatal Dale City Crash

A single-vehicle crash that killed a driver involved the vehicle crossing into the opposite direction lanes and hitting a tree.

DALE CITY, VA — A Sunday night crash with an overturned vehicle in Dale City killed the driver, Prince William County Police say.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 8:02 p.m. Sunday in the area of the 3500 block of Cranmer Mews. According to police, a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze heading westbound on Dale Blvd. approaching Cherrydale Dr. was traveling at a high speed when it crashed.

The vehicle went into the eastbound lanes and struck a guardrail, continuing through the intersection into an embankment on Cranmer Mews. After that, the vehicle hit a tree and overturned before coming to a stop upside down.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified the driver as Lavone Rasheed Richardson-Crosby, 34, of no fixed address.

Police believe speed and impairment may have been factors in the crash. The Crash Investigation Unit is asking for witnesses with information. To contact police, call 703-792–6650.
