Fatal Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Leads To Woodbridge Driver's Arrest

Fairfax County Police say the driver from Woodbridge was found nearly two miles from the fatal hit-and-run.

WOODLAWN, VA — A hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in the Woodlawn area of Fairfax County led to a Woodbridge driver's arrest.

The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. Sunday at Richmond Highway and Brevard Court. Fairfax County Police say a pedestrian was trying to cross Richmond Highway outside a crosswalk when a southbound 2015 Lexus GS 350 struck him.

The pedestrian, Heliodoro Luna-Perez, 51, of Alexandria, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Police found the driver, Kelechi Uzodinma, 61, of Woodbridge, nearly two miles from the crash location. Uzodinma was charged with felony hit-and-run and was held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.

Detectives continue to investigate what led to the crash. Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
