Flu Vaccines Recommended For Prince William County Residents

Public health officials in Prince William County and the rest of Virginia are urging residents to get a flu vaccine before cases peak.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available in Prince William County. Public health officials with the Prince William Health District and the Virginia Department of Health are urging residents to seek out the vaccines.

"Although flu activity remains low nationally, Virginia has started to see sporadic reports of the influenza virus detected in recent weeks," officials said in a news release this week. "December is not too late to get your flu vaccine! While the flu season may vary from year to year, cases often peak in January or February and continue through May."

Officials also provided the following tips to help residents avoid getting sick due to either COVID-19 or the flu:

  • Get vaccinated;
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, for at least 20 seconds;
  • Cover your cough, either by using a disposable tissue or coughing into your sleeve, not your hand; and
  • Stay at home when you are sick.

The flu vaccine will be available alongside COVID-19 vaccines at the Prince William Health District's mobile clinic unit and the Manassas Mall clinic.

  • Thursday December 9, from 11:30 a.m.to 5:30 p.m.
    • Fresh World, 9540 Liberia Ave., Manassas, VA. 20110
  • Tuesday, December 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    • Americana Grocery, 14428 Jefferson Davis Highway, Woodbridge 22191

The flu vaccine will be available at the Manassas Mall clinic on Mondays and Fridays while supplies last. On those days, the clinic will be open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
