Happy New Year

Happy New Year to Everyone around the world

New Year by Aiza Mahmood

As we all know that the year 2022 will end on December 31st, and January 1st is celebrated as the beginning of the New Year. For worldly people, whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims start of the New Year is celebrated with full passion. In the western developed world, New Year's Eve is celebrated with a lot of activities. People stay awake for the entire night and spend their time partying and drinking alcohol. Thus, the previous year is concluded, and the New Year is started with immoral worldly activities. Majority of the people have no religious concern therefore they cannot reach out to the depths that a true believer can achieve.

During the Friday sermon delivered on January 1st, 2010, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Caliph and worldwide spiritual leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said, “God has given us an opportunity to adorn the very first day of the year with prayers. Pray for yourself, for your family, for Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam.” He also reminded the members of the verse from the Qur’an which says, ‘O ye who believe! fear God and believe in His Messenger; He will give you a double share of His mercy, and will provide for you a light wherein you will walk, and will grant you forgiveness — and verily God is Most Forgiving, Merciful —’ (57:29).

My goals for New Year are to focus on more religious activities like, reading the Holy Quran daily, offering the five daily Prayers on time, and reading books about Islam and Ahmadiyya every day.
