Hit-And-Run Victim Dies After Being Struck By His Stolen Vehicle In Montclair

Prince William County Police say a suspect took the victim's vehicle and struck him with it before fleeing.

MONTCLAIR, VA — Prince William County Police are investigating a hit-and-run of a man in the Montclair community Saturday. The man, who was hit with the vehicle stolen from him, died of his injuries.

According to police, the 37-year-old man was struck at Oasis at Montclair Apartment complex in the 16400 block of Stedham Circle around 6:53 p.m. Saturday. Police say the man was approached by an unknown person outside his vehicle. The suspect got into the victim's vehicle and started to drive in reverse.

The victim grabbed onto the vehicle before it struck an unoccupied vehicle. The victim was thrown off and run over when the SUV moved forward, police say.

The suspect fled in the stolen SUV before police arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. He was identified as Jose Vasquez Galvan, 37, of Dumfries.

Detectives are working to identify and locate the suspect. The stolen vehicle is a 1999 Gold Lexus RX 300 with Virginia license plate TUW8710. The vehicle has two‘Baby on board’ stickers on the rear of the vehicle as well as damage to the rear left bumper area, taillight assembly, and possibly the rear left rim.

On Tuesday, officers responding to an unrelated call found the vehicle on Ashdale Circle in Woodbridge. Police also have obtained surveillance footage showing a man believed to be involved.
