Planet Fitness Faces Bomb Threats In Woodbridge, Manassas

Police investigated bomb threats that prompted evacuations around two Planet Fitness locations.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Two Planet Fitness gyms in Prince William County were targeted by bomb threats over the weekend, according to police.

Prince William County Police investigated bomb threats around 6:18 p.m. Saturday at Planet Fitness locations at 14431 Richmond Highway in Woodbridge and 12627 Galveston Court in Manassas. The threats were sent by email, leading to an evacuation of the businesses and nearby shopping centers as a precaution.

Further police investigation found no explosive devices at the locations and no active threat to the businesses. Police have not identified the person behind the bomb threats.

A bomb threat can result in a Class 5 felony charge with a penalty of one to 10 years in jail and a fine up to $2,500. If the suspect is under 15, the charge would be a Class 1 misdemeanor with penalty of up to one year in jail and $2,500 fine.
