PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — More COVID-19 vaccination events are coming to community sites across Prince William County this week. The health department announced events at schools, a church, and a former fire department building.

This is the second consecutive week where COVID-19 vaccination events will be held at schools in Prince William County. Currently, children aged 5 to 11 are lagging significantly behind other age groups in vaccination rates.

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was authorized for children between to ages of 5 and 11 in November 2021. So far, less than 40 percent of children in that age group in Prince William County have received at least one dose of the vaccine. According to data from the Virginia Department of Health, only 29 percent of children aged 5 to 11 are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
