WOODBRIDGE, VA — A woman wanted by police after a Woodbridge homicide was arrested in Maryland on Tuesday, authorities said. The woman, Karen Nicole Pollard, led Virginia State Police on a chase that ended in Prince George's County.

Pollard reported minor injuries in the crash. She received treatment at an area hospital in Maryland, a state police spokesperson said.

Pollard was wanted in connection with the Dec. 28 murder of 51-year-old Patricia Kathlean Beglin, Prince William County police officials said.

"A Virginia State Police trooper observed the vehicle traveling east on I-495 and was able to catch up to the vehicle," Virginia State Police said. "When the trooper activated his emergency lights and sirens, the vehicle sped away. A pursuit was initiated."

The chase led police into Prince George's County in Maryland. The stolen vehicle, a blue Audi, took exit 7 off I-495. The driver, who police identified as Pollard, lost control and crashed into several vehicles.

Pollard was then taken into custody without incident.

Authorities in Prince William County have been searching for Pollard throughout January.

Investigators believe that Pollard was responsible for a shooting that occurred on Dec. 28 in Woodbridge. On the morning of Dec. 28, police officers were called to the woods near the 1200 block of Easy Street.

Detectives believe Pollard and Beglin knew each other, and the shooting occurred due to an argument over fentanyl pills. When police officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found Beglin suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
