Bear In Tree Near Renton Elementary School: Reports

The black bear was hanging out in a tree near Highlands Elementary School.

RENTON, WA - A black bear was hanging out in a tree near a Renton elementary school on Wednesday afternoon. Officers from state Department of Fish and Wildlife are standing by to tranquilize the bear, but will wait until the bear gets closer to the ground to do that. The bear was in a tree above some public tennis courts near Highlands Elementary School.

Highlands Elementary is located a few blocks south of Northeast Sunset Boulevard, near Renton Technical College.

If you're interested in watching the bear, KOMO News is live-streaming the bear's movements. As of 2 p.m., he appeared to be sleeping.
