SEATTLE — Two teen boys appeared in juvenile court and remained in custody Wednesday after a shooting at Ingraham High School that left one student dead Tuesday morning.

A King County judge found probable cause to hold the 14-year-old boy on suspicion of premeditated murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon at a school facility. Prosecutors argued a second boy, 15, who was arrested on a metro bus with the first teen, should also remain in custody for potential criminal involvement.

According to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, police found a handgun in the older boy's backpack, which investigators believe may have been the same firearm in the school shooting. Prosecutors argued there was probable cause to keep the second boy in custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and rendering criminal assistance.

Neither teen has been formally charged in the case. Prosecutors have until Monday to make formal charging decisions, pending additional investigative documents from the Seattle Police Department.

Unlike cases involving adults, police narrative documents are not immediately made public after first appearances in juvenile court. Prosecutors expect more details in the case will be available by Monday.
