Deliveries To Seattle Residents Up 53% in 2022

ButterflyMX has seen a 50% adoption rate in the past year as more property owners and managers strive to differentiate their offerings. The company analyzed data gathered from more than 36,000 apartment units in the Seattle metropolitan area, which accounts for more than 8% of all multifamily units in the market, to measure and understand resident behavior. This includes developments by Avenue5, Blanton Turner, Carmel Partners, Greystar, Holland Partner Group and Pillar Properties.

ButterflyMX reported the following trends in the Seattle metropolitan area:

1. 53% increase in package deliveries over the same time period in 2021. Though deliveries only account for less than 1% of all access activity, they create a major pain point for residents and building staff, requiring significant time and precious space to accept, store and manage.
2. 76% of multifamily residents nationally receive three or more packages per month, meaning deliveries have the potential to become a distraction if not effectively controlled.
3. Remote door management, which gives residents the ability to securely allow guests into their building without requiring the resident to be on site, are on track to double across ButterflyMX’s platform by the end of the year.

“While many people predicted the pandemic would mark the end of cities, Seattle has remained relatively stable in attracting residents in this ‘new’ economy. Apartment construction is in line with this growth, with more than 15,000 apartments expected to hit the market by the end of 2022.
