Oktoberfest & Other Fall Fun Around Puget Sound: What To Know For 2022

Fall's arrival heralds Oktoberfest celebrations, harvest festivals and Halloween-themed fun over the coming weeks. Here are a few options.

SEATTLE — Fall is on the doorstep, and with it, a bountiful harvest of seasonal fun is on the schedule across Western Washington to celebrate the changing of the seasons. Oktoberfest events are getting underway across the region over the weekend, and harvest festivals, corn mazes and spooky Halloween fun won't be far behind.

Here are some popular events headed for Western Washington in September and October:

  • Luminata (Seattle)
    • When: Sept. 24 (6 p.m. - 11 p.m.)
    • Details: The Fremont Arts Council's free annual celebration of the autumnal equinox returns to Green Lake on Sept. 24 with its trademark lantern parade slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
  • Kirkland Oktoberfest (Kirkland)
    • When: Sept. 23 - 25
    • Details: Puget Sound's largest Oktoberfest event is back on the Kirkland waterfront with its trademark "München-style" biergartens, live entertainment and beloved weiner dog races.
  • Tacoma Oktoberfest (Tacoma)
    • When:
      • Sept. 24 (12 p.m. - 12 a.m.)
      • Sept. 25 (12 p.m. - 8 p.m.)
    • Details: Dystopian State Brewing brings back its free and family-friendly Oktoberfest to Grit City, with brews from Tacoma to Germany, along with plenty of polka, brats and games.
  • The 18th Annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival (Seattle)
    • When: Sept. 30 - Oct. 1
    • Details: Elysian Brewing's fall beer festival heads back to Seattle Center at the end of the month, promising more than 80 pumpkin beers and raising money to benefit the Vera Project.
  • Leavenworth Oktoberfest (Leavenworth)
    • When:
      • Sept. 30 - Oct. 1
      • Oct. 7 - 8
      • Oct. 14 - 15
    • Details: Washington's very own Bavarian village invites visitors from around the region to take in the sights, sips and sounds of Oktoberfest over three weekends. Local brewers will be on-hand along with German imports. Younger revelers can find plenty of fun at "Kinderplatz," a root beer garden and a brand new 42-foot Ferris wheel.
  • Kelsey Creek Farm Fair (Bellevue)
    • When: Oct. 1 (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
    • Details: Bellevue's annual agricultural celebration returns to Kelsey Creek for its 40th year, with animals, scarecrows, tractor-pulled wagons and a pumpkin patch.
  • Kirkland Harvest Festival (Kirkland)
    • When: Oct. 1 (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
    • Details: Kirkland is bringing back the Harvest Festival for a second year, complete with tractor-pulled hayrides, food trucks, apple cider pressing and more family-friendly fun.
  • Brew at the Zoo (Seattle)
    • When: Oct. 6 (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)
    • Details: Woodland Park Zoo invites beer and cider lovers to celebrate its ninth annual Brew at the Zoo, packed with pours from more than 50 local breweries and offering close-ups with the zoo's ambassador animals.
  • Oktoberfest Northwest (Puyallup)
    • When: Oct. 7 - 9
    • Details: The Washington State Fair's annual, Munich-inspired Oktoberfest is back at the fairgrounds in October with traditional music, dancing, food and beer, along with wiener dog races, a 5K and 80s cover bands.
  • Pike Place Harvest Festival (Seattle)
    • When: Oct. 29 (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
    • Details: Visitors of all ages can plan for a full day of fun at Pike Place, featuring live busker music on a farm truck, a giant pumpkin carving, and a "Sip & Savor" event for adults.
