Remains Found Near UW Identified As Missing Woman

Officers are investigating the woman's death as a homicide.

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department has dispatched homicide detectives to investigate after a collection of human remains were identified as a missing woman.

As of SPD's latest update, the woman has not been publicly named. Police have only said that she was 56-year-old woman who had previously been reported missing in Seattle. Her remains were discovered at around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon in a greenbelt along Ravenna Avenue Northeast, not far from the University Village.

The remains were transferred to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, who formally identified them as belonging to the missing woman. SPD says officers are now investigating the woman's death as a homicide, and that their investigation will "remain active and ongoing."
