Seattle-Area Weather Outlook: Cool Overnight Temps Linger

Afternoon temperatures are on track to improve, but there may still be some action left as winter wanes in Puget Sound.

SEATTLE — Cool lows will keep the chances rolling for a little snow mixed with the rain during the overnight and morning hours for much of the week, but afternoon highs should fly close to 50 degrees over the coming days.

Though temps continue to trend a little cooler than normal for the season, the National Weather Service said a pattern chance this weekend may allow for a slight warmup. Until then, expect a similar playbook to run in the immediate future.

"For Tuesday, the upper-level low drawing near tonight will then be off of the Southern Oregon coast by Tuesday evening. We`ll continue to see showers throughout before decreasing during the evening. Some clearing will be possible so temps could fall into the upper 20s to mid 30s. Rinse and repeat for Wednesday and Thursday with yet another upper-low making its way into the region with more showers while remaining over the offshore waters. Highs are to be in the mid 40s to near 50 for both Tuesday through Thursday."

The National Weather Service said "generally light precipitation" and a "marginal potential" for lowland snow overnight will linger through the forecast period, with morning lows hovering around the low-to-mid-3os before improving by the weekend.

There should still be a handful of chances for sunshine, with partly sunny skies in the forecast during the day Tuesday and Wednesday. Clouds may win the battle from Thursday onward.

More active weather may yet be in the cards before spring's formal arrival, and the latest climate outlooks favor cooler, wetter weather materializing next week for a large swath of the West.
