Seattle Humane Takes Scores Of Pets Saved From Arkansas Flooding

Hundreds of cats and dogs rescued from the flooding in Arkansas have been taken in by Seattle-area humane societies.

SEATTLE, WA – Hundreds of dogs and cats who were displaced by the flooding in Arkansas have new temporary homes in Washington. The Seattle Humane Society was on hand at Snohomish Airport to greet them over the weekend.

Seattle Humane is accepting 76 of the dogs and cats.

"We know you're pumped to give sweeties their forever homes, and we're just as pumped to have as many as possible ready for adoption," the society posted on their Facebook page.

"However, availability is determined case by case, based on each individual animal's health and behavior needs."

The society says that while the intake process for most of the animals was routine, there was one surprise.

"During the standard vet check for incoming animals, we learned the Sherry was actually Shawn," they write.

"He took the news fairly well."

Seattle Humane Society says to check their website for the latest on adoption and to donate to help care for the animals.
