SEATTLE — Washington State Patrol sent more resources to Seattle Monday with heavy traffic expected around Lumen Field for the Seattle Seahawks season opener at home against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.

WSP expected traffic congestion building by the afternoon, remaining elevated through the evening, and said extra troopers would be "out in force" looking for signs of potential impairment.

"This past Friday into Saturday morning Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers investigated three horrible collisions involving the arrest of the causing drivers for suspected impairment," Trooper Rick Johnson said Monday. "Two lost their lives in one collision, one lost their life in the second, and one was seriously injured in the third collision. These were all preventable."
