Northwest Kidney Centers Nutrition Manager Katy Wilkens RD has been awarded the Medal of Excellence in kidney nutrition by the American Association of Kidney Patients, the countryβs largest independent, patient-led kidney advocacy organization.
A resident of Kenmore, Wash., and a pioneer in renal nutrition, Wilkens leads a team of registered dietitians that meet monthly with patients to give nutritional advice and support. Her team teaches Northwest Kidney Centersβ free Eating Well, Living Well nutrition classes, which are offered at locations around Puget Sound, to teach people how to eat healthier to slow the progression of kidney disease and postpone dialysis.
