WISCONSIN — Another Wisconsinite has been arrested and charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol that disrupted Congress' joint session to count electoral votes, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia announced Thursday.

Prosecutors said 40-year-old Joseph Cattani of Colgate pulled the face shield of a capitol officer and is now facing felony and misdemeanor charges. A federal complaint filed in the District of Columbia accused Cattani of felonies including civil disorder and assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers, the news release said. He is also facing misdemeanor charges including entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct; and parading, picketing and demonstrating in a Capitol building, authorities said.

Cattani was arrested on Thursday in St. Francis, a suburb of Milwaukee, officials said.

Prosecutors, citing court documents, said video footage showed Cattani in a winter jacket and sweatshirt holding a camera with a telephoto lense among the crowd of rioters on Jan. 6.

Additional video showed him at the Rotunda doors as he grabbed the face shield of a U.S. Capitol Police Officer and pulled up and down "as the officer's head twists and turns" before Cattani pushed his way into the building, according to the news release.

Additional surveillance video showed Cattani inside the building for about 18 minutes as he made his way through the building, prosecutors said.

Nearly 1,150 people have been arrested since Jan. 6, 2021, in connection with the U.S. Capitol breach.
