The single most pressing issue facing our state is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The proper role of the government.

Here in Wisconsin, we've now seen firsthand how improper government intervention can make a bad situation, such as Covid-19, much worse. Tony Evers and our state government failed us by shutting the state down, they failed us by not having an immediate plan for reopening, and they failed us by creating record unemployment and not processing the claims or even taking the calls. There are still thousands of people waiting for their claims to be paid, and thousands more that have been left in total ruin.

As your state senator, I will work to stop the ever-growing size and scope of government in our lives. I will fight to ensure that we have updated crisis response plans in place. And, even in times of divided government, I will work to find bipartisan areas of agreement where we can restore power to the people to make the best decisions for themselves. Because the people in New Berlin, Franklin, Hales Corners, and Muskego — and all across the 28th Senate District — know far better than politicians and bureaucrats do.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I've seen the American Dream work firsthand as an African American born in an inner-city and raised in poverty. My life experience has taught me the importance of equal opportunity over equal outcomes. While it hasn't always been easy, I'm determined to ensure every American has the opportunity to achieve their piece of the American Dream without unnecessary government interference.

Right now, Wisconsin and our country are at a crossroads. Should we move toward socialism or continue our battle for freedom and opportunity? Without a doubt, I believe freedom is the answer.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As we recover from the pandemic's destruction, we need a senator with the private-sector business qualifications I have to fight for jobs and small businesses. Madison bureaucrats shouldn't get in the way of rebuilding our economy. Furthermore, my years as a grassroots activist talking with voters in Wisconsin have given me years of listening to our neighbors about their concerns. I'll make sure they have a strong voice in the State Capitol.

What steps should state government take to bolster economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic for local businesses?
Unfortunately, so many small businesses struggle right now in light of the pandemic due to too much state government intrusion. My business experience has taught me that the solution isn't about what the government can do, instead what it shouldn't do.

As a state senator, I'll fight to rein in Madison bureaucrats and their ability to shut down our economy without thinking of the impact it has on our families and cut red tape that stands in the way of letting mom-and-pop shops get back on their feet.

How will you address the calls for racial justice and police reform?
This is not about right and left, this is about right and wrong.

The right way to address the calls for racial justice is by welcoming and participating in open dialogue that focuses on taking positive action for our communities.

The wrong way to address this is by rioting, looting, and giving into the radical narrative that we must defund the police.

I’m proud to stand with the men & women who risk their lives on a daily basis to keep our communities safe. The Milwaukee Police Association has endorsed me in this campaign because they know that I'll work with them and all of our law enforcement in their mission of keeping violent criminals off our streets.

List other issues that define your campaign platform:
I'm not ashamed to say I am pro-life and will fight tooth and nail to protect the unborn. In fact, my political journey began in 2002, when I had a conversation with my mom, a lifelong Democrat. That day changed my life. While debating the subject of abortion, my mom accused me of being a Republican. Following our discussion, I began to research party platforms. It turned out my mom was right, so I joined the Republican Party that day.

I'm also a strong supporter of our Constitution, and one of our first rights is the right to keep and bear arms. Governor Evers has threatened the rights of lawful gun owners in our state, and that is unacceptable. I'm proud to be endorsed by the National Rifle Association, and voters can be confident that I will fight for the 2nd Amendment at the State Capitol.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
One of the issues I'm most passionate about is education — especially literacy. I believe that the ability to read is an integral part of education and is a major contributor to a child's ability to rise out of poverty and achieve the American Dream.

Unfortunately, while many inner-city schools remain virtual-only and schools with minority or low-income students aren't focused on teaching new concepts, students are being held back. I will always fight for parents' rights to send their kids to a place where they will find a quality education that works for their child's specific needs.
