GREENFIELD, WI — The last time Jessica Alvarado saw her 90-year-old grandmother was by video call as she was battling COVID-19 in a local hospital.

That woman, 90-year-old Susana Martinez, died as a result of the virus on April 29.

Now, Alvarado is sharing her story with the Joe Biden campaign in a political ad that has been posted on the campaign's official YouTube channel. Biden is the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee for President, and he is expected to appear at a scaled-down version of the Democratic National Convention August in Milwaukee.

In the video, Alvarado said "She was the most welcoming person you could ever imagine," she said of her grandmother in the video. "It was difficult to comprehend how quickly everything kind of spiraled downward."

Alvarado said the current administration has not prioritized the elderly. "I feel like my grandmother didn't matter," she said in the video. "The fact that she was alone just breaks my heart."
