"I will put forth a proposal that the board meet with representatives of the Greenfield Education Association on a regular basis to discuss ways we can work together rather than the current board strategy of simply sending its lawyer to meet with them," he told Patch.

Why I am running:

I am seeking a seat on the Greenfield Board of Education and am a longtime educator and local business owner. A key point for me in this campaign is getting everyone a place in the decision making process in our school district.

A healthy learning community is one with strong school-home-community partnerships so all are working together for the benefit of our youth. Yet our students asked me to run because they feel they are not listened to and have no say in the process under the current board leadership. Our teachers endorsed me because they feel ignored by our current board leadership.

I have meet with numerous community businesses and organizations who would love to work more with our school system but feel ignored by the current board leadership.

I have talked to hundreds while canvassing who have no idea who is even on the board and i have met with several parent groups who have never had board candidates meet with them before.

Top Issues Facing The District:

In short while my opponents feel the role of a board member is to be a cheerleader, I see a large disconnect and lack of working together. I see a district with great students and staff and a community willing to work more in partnership but a leadership that has repeatedly failed to facilitate the needed relationships to make our district even stronger.

I am a longtime educator, parent and business owner and i come from all three perspectives. If elected i will give everyone a seat at the decision making table and will make my primary goal to grow school-home-community partnerships to grow our programs and opportunities for our youth.

I will also open the board election process to the public by establishing at least two school board candidate forums each election cycle so the public actually has an opportunity to meet and ask questions of the candidates before an election.

I will put forth a proposal that the board meet with representatives of the Greenfield Education Association on a regular basis to discuss ways we can work together rather than the current board strategy of simply sending its lawyer to meet with them.

I will move to expand our programs in art and music education as well as vocational and tech education. These programs help students prepare for the work world as employers are increasingly looking for creative problem solvers and lifelong learners.

I will also protect our Honors programs and through increased community partnerships will increase employment and mentoring opportunities for our students.
