W. Morgan Ave. Project To Close Street For 6 Months

GREENFIELD, WI -- A major road in Greenfield will be closed for about six months after city officials said the road will undergo some major upgrades.

According to the City of Greenfield, the project began on April 1, as W. Morgan Ave. closed from 49th Street to 43rd Street for a road reconstruction project.

City officials said that later this summer the W. Morgan Ave. closure will extend from Forest Home Ave to 43rd Street, and that the Morgan Ave. closure will last until at least mid-October.

City officials said that Morgan Ave. would be closed to through traffic, but open to local traffic, and that traffic access to Glenwood School for the April 2 Election would be maintained.

According to city officials, W. Morgan Ave from W. Forest Home Ave to S. 43rd St will be reconstructed in 2019 to include curb and gutter, sidewalks, new storm sewer and new street lights.

The road will have one travel lane and one bike lane in each direction. On-street parking lanes will be provided in certain locations.

Throughout construction W. Morgan Ave will be closed to through traffic but local access to driveways will be maintained.
