35 WI Restaurants Earn 2022 Wine Spectator Awards

WISCONSIN — Big names like Napa Valley may be what comes to mind when one hears about wine awards. But that doesn't mean there's any shortage of restaurants with great wine in Wisconsin, the latest Wine Spectator awards show.

The magazine honored 35 restaurants across the Badger State for its 2022 award list. Spots ranged from Eagle River, to Eau Claire, Madison, Milwaukee and beyond. Wine Spectator selected spots from across the U.S., plus 70 countries and territories, recognizing each for their "outstanding" wine programs.

The awards come in three categories: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence, and Grand Award.

The magazine says it gives the Award of Excellence to restaurants with "thoughtfully chosen lists, containing both quality and diverse selections that are compatible with the menu’s style and pricing."

The Best of Award of Excellence is for "those that go the extra mile," Wine Spectator wrote. These restaurants offer wine lists with vast arrays of selections, including a breadth of regions and vintage depth. These spots also carefully design their presentation of the lists, and train staff on how to ensure guests can learn more about wine, the magazine wrote.
