MILWAUKEE, WI β€” Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Josh Hader has been traded to the San Diego Padres in exchange for four players, the team announced Monday.

Since Hader's 2017 start with the Brewers, he has gained a reputation for his work as a reliever in late innings, garnering some of the highest strikeout rates among pitchers who have played more than two career innings, according to MLB.com's report breaking the news.

The Brewers acquired Hader in 2015 by trading Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers to the Houston Astros, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The team will acquire Taylor Rogers, Robert Gasser, Esteury Ruiz and Dinelson Lamet in exchange for Hader, the team said in a tweet Monday afternoon.

In a statement, President of Baseball Operations David Stearns said the new players will help ensure the future of the team "remains bright while not compromising our desire and expectation to win today."
