MILWAUKEE, WI — Police in Milwaukee say they've tracked down the vehicle made an arrest in the hit-and-run crash that killed a 6-year-old Milwaukee girl and injured two children.

Now the family of that girl is asking for the public's help to cover the cost of burying their loved one.

"Lisa Zhane Gee, age 6, is now her mother, Destiny’s angel. As you know, this was something never expected, and we need your help sending her angel home along with other expenses occurring while Lisa’s little sister is still fighting for her life," family friend Julie Garrison wrote on a Go Fund Me page this week.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the children were walking home from Gwen Jackson Elementary School playground at just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday when they started crossing W. Center Street.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, when speaking about the incident at a press conference Thursday night, said the children were walking in a crosswalk, and following the traffic signals at the intersection when the unthinkable happened.

Milwaukee Police say the driver of a gray Saturn Aura sped through the intersection, weaving around cars that were stopped at the intersection, before slamming into the three children. According to a WISN-TV report, the children had the right-of-way in the crosswalk when the car blew through the intersection in the bike lane.

Police say the vehicle was heading east on Center Street when the driver ignored a red light, and caused accident. Police said a 10-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl and Lisa were all seriously hurt. They were all transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Lisa later succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital, police said.

"We have had too many of these incidents. I don't want to start saying the same thing I've been continuously saying, but when is enough enough," Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief Ray Banks said Thursday night.

Milwaukee Police are continuing to ask for information in this case. Anyone with any information please contact Milwaukee Police at 414-935-7360‬.
