Milwaukee Brewers Manager Craig Counsell Leaving For Chicago Cubs

Craig Counsell will reportedly earn $40 million over five years with the Chicago Cubs, making him the highest-paid manager in MLB.

MILWAUKEE, WI β€” Craig Counsell is leaving his job as the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers and will take on the same role with division rival Chicago Cubs.

"Today we made the difficult decision to dismiss David Ross as our Major League Manager," said Cubs President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer in a news release.

"Going forward, our Major League team will be managed by Craig Counsell. We look forward to welcoming Craig at Wrigley Field early next week."

Craig Counsell will earn $40 million over five years with the Cubs, making him the highest-paid manager in MLB, The Athletic reported.

Counsell became the Brewers' manager in 2015, taking over for Ron Roenicke. Since then, Milwaukee has never finished lower than second place.

The Brewers have made the playoffs in five of the last six seasons.
