BARTLETT, NH β€” A man from Milwaukee who got lost on Mt. Kearsarge North in New Hampshire on Friday was rescued from the summit by fish and game conservation officers, officials said in a news release Monday.

Authorities said the 39-year-old man had hiked to the summit and explored off-trail before he realized he was lost without any light or ability to rescue himself amid cold and wet weather. By 11 p.m., the man called for assistance with coordinates that placed him over three miles from the trailhead's parking lot, authorities said.

Fish and game officers found the man, identified as Bradford Nelson, near the summit and gave him food, warm clothing, water, and a headlamp before escorting him back to the trailhead, according to a news release from New Hampshire Fish and Game.
