Orchids Taking Over the Domes This Weekend

MILWAUKEE, WI — Visitors to the Milwaukee County Domes will have a chance to see some unique and rare Orchids at the Mid America Orchid Congress this weekend.

The Orchid Show is included with general admission to the Mitchell Park Domes on Saturday Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday September 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Congress brings together Orchid breeders from across the Midwest, who breed nursery-grown and hybrid Orchids to create unique shapes, colors and fragrances – and compete against each other to earn ribbons and awards from American Orchid Society. Judging will take place at 7 a.m. on Saturday, and visitors will be able to view the winning plants in the Floral Show Dome all weekend.

The weekend’s event will also include local, regional and national orchid vendors, and educational demonstrations on breeding and growing orchids, and on conservation of wild orchids.
