Packer Fans Owe Big Bar Tabs After Betting Wrong On Rodgers, Jets

After Aaron Rodgers went down, bargoer at Jack's American Pub thought their tabs were paid for under the "Jets Lose, You Win" promotion.

MILWAUKEE, WI β€” A group of Milwaukee-area Green Bay Packer fans owe massive bar tabs after incorrectly assuming the New York Jets would lose on Monday Night Football after their new starting QB in Aaron Rodgers was carted off the field.

Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, Jack's American Pub on Milwaukee's East Side promoted a unique deal to its customers; If the Jets lose, the bar will cover all open drink tabs. The only condition is that ex-Packer Rodgers needs to start the game for New York.

Rodgers did start the game, but that's about all he did.

Rodgers tore his Achilles just four snaps in at MetLife Stadium on Monday. When it was confirmed that he wouldn't return to the game, bargoers at Jack's began running up tabs, making the fair assumption that the Jets couldn't possibly beat the Buffalo Bills with backup QB Zach Wilson at the helm.

They were wrong. The Jets pulled up a near-miracle upset over the Bills in overtime, thanks to a walk-off punt return.

That wasn't just bad news Bills fans. Packer fans at Jack's quickly realized that their large tabs were not going to be covered by the bar.

When the game ended, emotions in the bar were "mixed," Jack's owner Scott Schaefer told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Despite Rodgers' injury, the "Jets Lose, You Win" promotion might not be entirely over.

"We're going to try to do something else. We want to see what happens over the next couple of days," Schaefer told the newspaper.

"There's obviously talk out there that the Jets might pick up another quarterback. So, we want to see what happens. We want to keep the promotion going, but in what form, we don't know."
