Snow, Cold Will Follow Tuesday's Record Heat: WI Weather

Following record heat on Tuesday, with highs in the 70s, an arctic blast will create conditions for snow.

MILWAUKEE — Get ready for a weather whiplash in Wisconsin. Following record heat on Tuesday, with highs in the 70s, an arctic blast will create conditions for snow.

"A strong Arctic cold front will push through overnight bringing a quick drop in temps, even colder wind chills, windy conditions, and a chance at light snow through Wednesday morning," the National Weather Service said.

"Minor travel impacts overnight will be possible for any wet, untreated, and/or elevated surfaces that freeze along with minor snow accumulations. These conditions may linger into Wednesday morning commute."

Most of southern and central Wisconsin will get at least a dusting of snow between Tuesday night and Wednesday, if not more.

Tuesday: Rain showers likely before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 1am and 2am, then snow showers likely after 2am. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Blustery, with a west wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest 15 to 20 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 9am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 27. Windy, with a northwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a south wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
