Town Hall Meetings Begin Tuesday For Milwaukee County's 2024 Budget

Tuesday marks the first of four town halls about Milwaukee County's 2024 budget after an increase in sales tax was approved.

MILWAUKEE, WI β€” The first of four in-person town hall meetings for Milwaukee County residents to share their thoughts about the 2024 budget takes place on Tuesday, with more meetings scheduled throughout August.

County Executive David Crowley announced the hearings on Aug. 2, shortly after the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors approved a 0.4 percent sales tax increase as part of a sweeping state revenue reform.

"Town halls are a great way for the community to learn more about revenue reform and its impact on future budgets, understand the entire budget process, and to express their budget priorities," said Crowley in a news release. "They are also a fantastic way for our administration officials to learn what residents need and how we can best meet those needs."

Crowley encouraged residents to save the dates and engage in the process. Residents can also register for the town halls ahead of time online.

Here is where and when each town hall is taking place:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Washington Park Senior Center
    • 4420 West Vliet Street.
    • Resource and job fair from 5-6 p.m. then budget presentation begins at 6 p.m.
  • Aug. 21 at the Kosciuszko Community Center.
    • 2201 South 7th Street.
    • Resource and job fair from 5-6 p.m. then budget presentation begins at 6 p.m.
  • Aug. 23 at the Brown Deer Clubhouse.
    • 7624 North Range Line Road.
    • Resource and job fair from 5-6 p.m. then budget presentation begins at 6 p.m.
  • Aug. 24 at the Franklin Saber Center for the Performing Arts.
    • Inside Franklin High School at 8222 South 51st Street.
    • Resource and job fair from 5-6 p.m. then budget presentation begins at 6 p.m.

"These meetings are your opportunity to learn more about Milwaukee County's vision and mission, get connected to key county resources, and share your thoughts on the upcoming budget," said Crowley in an emailed statement to constituents Monday.
