Prom Announced For Wauwatosa School District

No one outside of the school district is allowed to attend prom for the purpose of safety/contact tracing

WAUWATOSA, WI—The Wauwatosa School District reconsidered having prom after all for students at Wauwatosa East and Wauwatosa West High School. Previously the school district said there were no plans to have prom.

For Prom 2021, no outside guests will be allowed to attend any of the proms.

"It is in our best interest to restrict outside guests for the purpose of safety/contact tracing," the district said.

Wauwatosa West will host a Senior Ball for the Senior class of 2021 and a Junior Prom for the Junior Class of 2022. The district is researching the most COVID-19 safe and cautious way to host these events for students, according to the District.

Senior Ball Friday, May 14, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Learning Center, West HS Ticket Cost: $20

Junior Prom Saturday, May 15, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. , Grand March in Auditorium (7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.) Dance in Learning Center, West HS (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Ticket Cost: $20

Protocols and Expectations

  • No outside guests; only West Juniors/Seniors to attend the Ball and Prom.
  • Students will be expected to wear masks during the entirety of the event except for the Grand March.
  • Masks must be worn during the dance. Students failing to properly wear masks will be asked to leave.
  • The dance aspect of the event will be different from previous dances and events. Students will be expected and encouraged to properly distance themselves from others in the learning center.

In the event of a need to contact trace due to a positive case of COVID-19 for someone in attendance, the school district nursing staff will be contacted and students will be quarantined as needed.

Wauwatosa East will host a Senior Ball for the Senior Class of 2021 and a Junior Prom for the Junior Class of 2022.

Senior Ball Saturday, May 15, 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. (tentative time depending on any catered meal) East High School Ticket Cost: TBD depending on inclusion of catered meal ($15-$60).

Junior Prom Saturday, May 22, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Grand March in Auditorium (7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.) Dance (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Cost $15.
