WAUWATOSA, WI β€” The Wauwatosa School District's plans to renovate and upgrade the Wauwatosa East High School soccer field met fierce resistance this week after more than 40 residents came forward during a school board meeting to voice their concerns over lighting, field size, parking and other details.

"Does this look like a place for a soccer/lacrosse field with four 70-foot lights?" Rachel English asked the board, as reported by JSOnline. "That is jamming a McMansion-sized field onto a postage stamp-sized lot. The neighbors are right on top of this field."

According to official documents, the project calls for making the existing 210-foot grass field larger, extending it to 360 feet and re-surfacing the area with artificial turf.
