WAUWATOSA, WIβ€” The Wauwatosa Design Review Board will review its decision to approve a residential tower proposal from Mo's Irish Pub owner John "Johnny V" Vassallo on March 3.

Underwood Neighbors United, a group of neighbors who opposed the tower, filed an appeal on Jan. 28. The tower would be 28 stories and 364 feet tall, with 65 units, city documents said.

The proposed development is at 10845 W. Bluemound Road on the site of the former Edwardo's Natural Pizza at the southwest corner of the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and state Highway 100.

Vassallo withdrew a proposed 20-story, 340-unit apartment tower application in February after neighbor opposition.

Several residents opposed the new proposal, citing traffic concerns and possible effects on property values.

Attorney Joseph Cincotta on behalf of UNU said the tower would negatively impact property values in the immediate neighborhood.

Vassallo's Drew Tower was designed to fit within city zoning restrictions to avoid a requirement for Common Council approval, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
