Wauwatosa Map Lets Parents Chart Safe Route To School For Kids

Parents can see where crossing guards are located, the no parking zones on certain streets and the drop-off zone.

WAUWATOSA, WI -- Parents trying to find a safe way for their children to walk to school this September can get help after officials in Wauwatosa announced the creation of an interactive map that charts the safest walking path between residences and the schools their children will be attending this year.

The routes are determined by sidewalks, crosswalks, crossing guards, and traffic analysis.

Here are instructions as provided by Wauwatosa officials:

  • Select your child’s school
  • Type your home address into the search bar
  • Follow the arrows on the map to your school.

You’ll see where crossing guards are located, the no parking zone on certain streets around your school, and the drop off zone, sometimes called hug-and-go. See an interactive map of safe routes based on your school.
