  • Publication number: 20240295196
Abstract: When a vehicle accelerates due to an upshifting of a transmission, a recirculation valve is opened and ignition period is retarded so that the torque generated in an internal combustion engine decreases. When upshifting of the transmission of the vehicle is completed, retarding of the ignition period is ended and the recirculation valve is closed at different timings. As a result, the amount of torque recovery at the end of the upshifting of the transmission of the vehicle can be prevented from increasing more than expected, and the acceleration rate after the shift can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 12078118
Abstract: A control device and method controls a vehicle having an internal combustion engine connected to an automatic transmission via a torque converter with a lockup device. The torque of the internal combustion engine is limited the by a torque limit value based on a speed difference between an input rotational speed and an output rotational speed of the torque converter during acceleration in a non-lockup state. The torque-limiting of the internal combustion engine is prohibited torque-limiting upon a prescribed condition being met. The prescribed condition is met by a heating request, during hill climbing/towing, during travel at high vehicle speeds, when the accelerator pedal opening angle exceeds or is equal to a prescribed opening angle, when the torque limit value is greater than a target torque, in a range other than a D range, or in a mode other than normal mode.

  • Patent number: 12080168
Abstract: An intersection collision avoidance system determines, for an ego vehicle, a direction indicated by its turn signal, its destination setting, or both, generates, where the direction is determined, a possible intended path relative to an intersection using a high-definition (HD) map and the direction, and generates, where the destination setting is determined, a possible intended path for using the HD map and the destination setting. Where the direction and the destination setting are both determined, the direction indicated by the turn signal is compared to the possible intended path generated using the destination setting, and one of the possible intended paths is selected based on the comparison. The system transmits, to a conflict detection module, a set of drive goals for the ego vehicle relative to the intersection that conforms to the intended path. The module can determine a possible collision with another road user using the drive goals.

  • Patent number: 12071127
Abstract: Proactively mitigating risk to a vehicle traversing a vehicle transportation network is described. First and second hazard zones for first and second objects ahead of the vehicle are respectively determined. The first hazard zone includes a first target lateral constraint that extends over a left lane boundary, and the second hazard zone includes a second target lateral constraint that extends over a right lane boundary. The lateral constraints separately allow the vehicle to avoid the objects without a speed constraint. Where the first and second hazard zones overlap in the longitudinal direction, a lateral buffer is allocated between the lateral constraints to generate first and second allocated lateral constraints. Longitudinal constraints are respectively determined based on times of arrival at each hazard zone. Using the constraints, a proactive trajectory is determined that includes a lateral contingency, a longitudinal contingency, or both. The vehicle is controlled according to the trajectory.

  • Patent number: 12059949
Abstract: An electrical component module is installed in a front section of a vehicle, and connected with a battery unit storing electricity for driving the vehicle. The electrical component module is supported by a vehicle body structure member (cross-member) extending in a lateral direction of the vehicle. The cross-member is closer to a passenger compartment than the electrical component module, and doesn't overlap with the electrical component module when viewed along any horizontal direction perpendicular to a vertical direction of the vehicle. Between the cross-member and the electrical component module, provided is a release mechanism for releasing the support of the electrical component module by the cross-member when receiving an impact from an opposite side to the passenger compartment.

Abstract: An end effector is disclosed that is configured for connection to a robotic unit used to manipulate a door of a vehicle (e.g., during vehicle painting). The end effector includes a base plate; a sensor that is supported by the base plate; and a piston that is configured for engagement with the door. The piston is operatively connected to an interrupter such that movement (displacement) of the piston causes corresponding movement (displacement) of the interrupter between a first position, in which the interrupter is positioned in alignment with a signal transmitted across the sensor to interfere with the signal and thereby interrupt circuit completion, and a second position, in which the interrupter is out of alignment with the signal transmitted across the sensor to permit circuit completion and thereby inform the robotic unit that the door is present and engaged with the end effector.

  • Patent number: 12055108
Abstract: A control method and a control device for controlling a spark-ignition internal combustion engine that is equipped with a turbocharger and an exhaust gas recirculation device. The operation of the engine is carried out to perform a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio by performing exhaust gas recirculation even in a high-load range including a maximum-output operation point. When the maximum output operation point is required, intake air information such as atmospheric pressure and outside air temperature is used as a basis to calculate intake air density, which is compared with a predetermined density threshold. When the intake density is equal to or less than the density threshold at a high-altitude location or the like, an exhaust gas recirculation rate is set to 0. As a result, the maximum output can be higher than when exhaust gas recirculation is performed.

Abstract: An engine controller inhibits a fuel cut when it is predicted that a lockup clutch is released after elapse of a predetermined period of time, at the time of the starting of the fuel cut. Specifically, engine controller is configured to predict (calculate) the vehicle speed after a predetermined period of time, and inhibit the fuel cut when the predicted (calculated) vehicle speed after the predetermined period of time is equal to or less than a lockup release speed. With this, it is possible to avoid a situation in which an internal combustion engine restarts fuel supply immediately after the fuel supply has been cut. Consequently, in the vehicle, the occurrence of the torque fluctuation of internal combustion engine resulting from fuel cut recovery can be suppressed, a change in acceleration in the front-rear direction of the vehicle is suppressed, and a deterioration in driving performance can be suppressed.
