This is really weird, I don't understand. they would benefit from giving us the metadata, the metadata isn't a backdoor around their paywall and they don't benefit from hiding it. are we just not talking to the right people there?

I'm not completely for or against substituting in the canonical URL in general. Besides the aforementioned additional signals like is the new URL a 200, I must restate that:

I see the same markup @DLynch described. regardless there's no situation where citation generation by VisualEditor should change the URL without telling the user it's changed.

@ssastry I don't know that much about the migration but one solution could be warn users when they try to save content which has inconsistent rendering between old/new.

removing Android folks in case they don't want the spam
hrmmm, ok, works for maniphest search but not global search?
I'm not even saying make it perfect, but MVP
- no silent error, no clobbering, if there's a conflict then don't make the edit. and also pass the server enough data so that it is possible for it to do the server side conflict resolution magic
- but also no data loss client side. give the user an opportunity to copy the text that they were trying to save. possibly to clipboard or a share to another app.
enough is enough. silent data loss is not ok. IMO we should disable all editing from this app until this task is resolved.

Originally noticed this with Android App 2.7.224-beta-2018-01-06 then installed and tested briefly with production 2.7.224-r-2018-01-06 and then did test edits (and a null edit on desktop) with that same beta again.

yes please!
@MusikAnimal does this still work? I don't see any way to get the page to load with the "Logarithmic scale" box already checked. (with &autolog=false, &autolog=true or leaving parameter off)
