Penn Badgley, who plays the entitled Brooklyn scenester Dan Humphrey on TV's "Gossip Girl" (he was also in 2009's absolutely awful horror film The Stepfather), has been chosen to play Jeff Buckley in a film about the late singer/songwriter, as Indiewire reports. This might be a smarter casting choice than it seems, since every time Dan Humphrey looks into Serena's (or Vanessa's, or Blair's) eyes on "Gossip Girl", I'm pretty sure he thinks he is channeling Jeff Buckley.The film, Greetings From Tim Buckley, isn't a biopic, exactly. As Indiewire reports, the film focuses on the events surrounding Jeff Buckley's 1991 performance at the tribute concert for his father, late singer/songwriter Tim Buckley. Daniel Algrant (Naked in New York) will direct the film.
