Maayan has helped me in improve my Hebrew in just a few weeks. She is the most patient and caring teacher that I have come across. I have tried several Hebrew teachers, and I must say that Maayan is the best hidden treasure that I could have found. I have a PhD in psychology and couldn’t find the confidence I needed to speak Hebrew. Since moving to Israel in June, I struggled learning Hebrew, but everyone has noticed that in the past few weeks, I have a new sense of confidence and it’s all because of Maayan.

Abigail is engaging, knowledge and well resourced. The lessons have a good flow, and she adjusted to my pace where needed. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and learnt a fair bit in the process.

The lessons are exactly what I was looking for to help improve my conversational Hebrew. We speak entirely in hebrew and on the topics that I deal with in my day to day work. Amos corrects me and suggests better ways for me to communicate the point I am making.

Maya is an excellent person and tutor. The most important for a teacher is to find an approach to the needs of the person whom you are working with, so, for me personally Maya is a marvelous tutor as she is not only finding a way to politely correct my grammar but she is always proposing the special topics so as I could improve my language knowledge.

Is Hebrew difficult to learn?

The difficulty of learning Hebrew can vary depending on your native language and prior language learning experience. Many learners find that with regular practice, Hebrew becomes more manageable over time.

How important is learning the Hebrew alphabet?

Learning the Hebrew alphabet is crucial for anyone serious about learning the language. The alphabet, known as the Aleph-Bet, consists of 22 letters, and mastering it is essential for reading and writing in Hebrew. Understanding the alphabet also helps with pronunciation and comprehension.

What are common challenges when learning Hebrew?

Common challenges in learning Hebrew include:

  • Alphabet and script: The Hebrew alphabet is different from the Latin alphabet, and learning to read from right to left can be challenging. Overcoming this involves regular practice with writing and reading exercises.
  • Pronunciation: Hebrew has some sounds that may not exist in other languages, such as the guttural "ch" sound. Listening to native speakers and using pronunciation guides can help.
  • Grammar and syntax: Hebrew grammar can be complex, with different rules for verbs, nouns, and sentence structure. Structured lessons and grammar books are beneficial for mastering these rules.
