Biography

Vernon Dunn is a Research Staff Member at the IDA Science & Technology Policy Institute (STPI), where he provides strategic analyses and support to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). He has expertise in STEM education and workforce, space, postsecondary education, promoting and serving minority communities, climate and energy, and health policy. Prior to joining STPI, he worked within the Policy and Global Affairs division at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, where he managed projects under the Committee on Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Public Policy; the Committee on Science, Engineering, and Law; and the New Voices in Science, Engineering, and Medicine program. He previously served as program manager at the Louisiana Board of Regents, where he managed the Louisiana STEM Advisory Council’s efforts to oversee the creation and delivery of STEM programs for the state. Vern received his doctorate in neurobiology from Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana.
