Amazing:
Service
Ambiance
Food
I had an IPA and an 8 pc of Surf & Turf and calamari. I thought my meal was great and I had absolutely no complaints. A server advised to not add soy sauce; the dish was pre-sauced. What I thought about that was you don't get first place in Readers Digest by messing around, fulfilling every request. Let the chef be right; when they are, they are.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiffany ..Renfrew-Collingwood, Vancouver, Kanada02411 sep. 2024
Came as a group of 7 young women for a birthday celebration.
Recently, my friend booked a reservation on OpenTable for her birthday celebration and we were excited to see what a Michelin-star restaurant experience would be like. Despite her noting her birthday on our OpenTable reservation, no one acknowledged it, and it was a huge disappointment.
From the moment we arrived, the service was unwelcoming. Most of the servers seemed uninterested, and our main server, a tall man with an accent, had a noticeably bad attitude that only worsened as the evening went on. It seemed like he was only in it for the tips, and since we were a large group with an 18% gratuity automatically applied, he put in minimal effort once he realized we weren't going to order more.
A different server quietly described the signature selection to just one person in the corner without offering to explain it to the rest of us despite nearly our entire table ordering it. The server's lack of communication and engagement was disappointing.
Another server also delivered an extra dish that we did not order. Our impression thus far hadn't been great and this place felt a lot more disorganized than a Michelin-caliber restaurant should be.
The tipping point was when our main server abruptly removed all the dessert menus from the table without explanation, leaving us confused. Turned out that two of my friends went to order a dessert and asked for a "Happy Birthday" message on it as a surprise. The way the server handled the situation was incredibly unprofessional and left us all stunned.
When the main server came to deliver the receipts, he gave them to one person, motioned a circle, and told the table to "go in order".
I've had consistently better service at The Keg, where the staff actually care about the customer experience. Here, I felt more like a burden than a valued guest. While the food was decent, it was comparable to what you'd find at mid-range restaurants, and the nice interior couldn't make up for the poor service.
I would strongly advise against coming here for a special occasion--you will be disappointed. This restaurant did not live up to its reputation, and we will not be returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeni M.Flushing, New York, USA042511 sep. 2024
We had a great time at Miku. We made our reservation a week before, and it was packed. We got seated at the back with a pier view, which was amazing.
We ordered calamari, Miku signature selection, surf & turf roll, Saba oshi sushi, aburi octopus, Hokkaido scallops, ebi fritters, and brussel sprouts. Lobster ceviche and aburi octopus were my favorites.
We come from New York, so our expectations could be different, but overall, the food and service were good, but could be better! Would recommend Miku for special dates or if you love to have great views while dining.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1 sep. 20241 check-in

- The sushi was amazing, especially loved one that was like a sandwich with tuna on top and in the middle
- Soba noodles were refreshing and savory
- Fried shrimp tempura were tasty too!
- I usually don't like lamb chop but the chop here was so tender
- Very filling food
Bad

From the service to the last bite of rice, everything was amazing! The sushi was incredible quality, and the specialty sauce that they put on top and then torch is to die for! I am so happy we made a reservation.
It was also great to see wait staff eager to tell you about the dish they were serving. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town! Also, couldn't forget that we had an amazing view!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 30 aug. 2024
I saw this restaurant on one of my visits to Vancouver ... It's right across the street from the Pan Pacific Hotel, my home away from home. The menu is more extensive than at the lobby restaurant in the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and I've found the quality to be comparable, at a slightly lower price point.
I tried something different this time, the Deluxe Shokai ($75), my sister-in-law (SIL) had the Traditional Sushi Lunch ($45). We shared a Soft-Shell Crab appetizer ($21) and we had several Empress gin & tonics.
The soft-shell crab was fine ... pieces of crab sat on a bed of miso slaw and yuzu mayo was drizzled on top.
The Shokai is art as food ... Mine came in a three-layer bowl with three pieces of sashimi in the first tier, two pieces of beef in the middle layer and a grilled scallop in the bottom tier. These were petite servings ... Lucky for me because it also came with a platter of sushi ... 3 different maki, 4 nigiri and 3 pieces of pressed sushi. I was hard pressed to eat everything.
SIL's sushi platter came with 7 nigiri sushi, 6 pieces of bluefin negitoro maki and a small salad of baby bok choy with a miso dressing.
My Shokai came with dessert, but I passed it to my SIL, who loved it!
Miku is great and busy, busy, busy. Make sure you make a reservation to ensure you'll be able to enjoy their food. Highly recommended!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 5372557079 aug. 2024
I first had Miku in Toronto with my best friend for a girl's night out and absolutely fell in love with their aburi oshi sushi. So when my boyfriend and I planned a trip to Vancouver, I knew I had to take him to Miku to celebrate our anniversary as well.
Tip: make sure to make reservations beforehand, it's very popular.
"Aburi" means flame-seared and "oshi" means pressed, so aburi oshi sushi is flame-seared pressed fish on top of rice.
Miku offers three types of aburi oshi sushi: salmon, ebi, and saba. I haven't tried the other two because I've only gotten the salmon at both restaurants. I wish I ordered an extra order because it was so good - the seared salmon just melts in your mouth and the oil from the salmon seeps into the rice to give it extra flavor.
For our meal, we ordered:
- Lobster Risotto - the lobster was deep fried as tempura in squid ink batter
- Chef's special nigiri selection
- 6 pc Salmon Oshi Sushi
- Green tea opera cake
The restaurant dimmed the lights as the evening went on, giving it a nice ambience to our experience. I can't wait to come back to get the salmon oshi sushi again!!Helpful 13Thanks 6Love this 11Oh no 0 - 12 aug. 2024
We eat sushi a lot, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but Miku exceeded my expectations! The inside is super bright and inviting, with a great view. While the host seemed indifferent, our server, Chelsea, was fantastic and truly made our meal even better.
We decided to do family style so we could try a little bit of everything, and the food came out really fast. They clearly pay attention to detail here, which I really appreciated. The ebi fritter appetizer was the perfect mix of juicy and crunchy--the shrimp was cooked just right.
The deluxe shokai was definitely the highlight of the meal. It comes with three small appetizers, a sushi platter, and a dessert. The wagyu appetizer from the shokai with mashed potatoes and sprouts was absolutely amazing. I also loved how the sushi platter offered a taste of everything, with my favorite being the red wave roll--it had a great flavor and was refreshing. The surf and turf roll was good too. All of the fish was super fresh, and everything that we tried was delicious.
If you're looking for sushi in Vancouver, I'd definitely recommend this spot. It's probably a good idea to make a reservation since they do get busy. The prices are also very reasonable considering the quality and service you get!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - 6351202219 aug. 20241 check-in
I stumbled upon this gem on Yelp while visiting Vancouver, and it turned out to be one of my favorite dining experiences! Despite it being a Saturday night, our party of four was fortunate to be seated without any wait. The ambiance and decor were stunning, and they have waterfront tables that I assume is available if you come early enough or make a reservation.
We started with the Brussels sprouts and ebi fritters, both of which were absolutely delicious. We also shared a surf and turf roll that was a big hit at our table. I ordered a hamachi nigiri that melted in my mouth. For my entree, I opted for the Oshi sampler, which was a great way to sample the different aburi sushi they offer (salmon, ebi, and saba). Every dish we tried was exceptional, and I would definitely return in the future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
