Going Bananas

Hello folks! Tonight kicks off another season of NFL action with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing the Dallas Cowboys. We all know what that means, a new season of a Gold Jacket favourite. Going Bananas! We’re looking to start this season right with a win.

Going Bananas is brought to you by Monkey Knife Fight. The game is simple, I find you the best prop game on MKF where I see the most likely winning outcome and we go bananas spending and winning! I scoured the games and found a gem that I think is ripe for winning.

More or Less, featuring Ezekiel Elliot and Ronald Jones.

Ezekiel Elliot: 62.5 Yards

Will Zeke eat? The number is 62.5 yards, seems an easy smash for more. Let’s take a quick look at the numbers. Last year Elliot averaged 65.3 yards a game (without Dak Prescott for most of it). The season prior he was at 84.8, which is a healthy enough number if we ignore the fact it has steadily declined throughout his career. This decline likely correlates with increasing age and Dallas’ shift in philosophy to the shoulders (and hips) of Dak.

On the other side of the coin is the rough and tough Tampa defense. They boast the #1 defense against the run the past two seasons! With an impressive 80.6 yards allowed on the ground, and only five 100 yard games allowed last season. Still it’s early in the season and kinks still need to be ironed out. While I do think Elliot goes for more, I do think it will be close and hinges on Dak keeping pace with Tom and not abandoning the run. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a dance card with Zeke and Dak. America (and the World) will be watching.

Prediction:  MORE

Ronald Jones: 50.5 Yards

Ronald Jones is a bit trickier as there is Lenny and Gio in this backfield deflating the MORE or LESS to 50.5 yards. My thoughts on this one are to instinctively hit the less and call it a day. That wouldn’t be the smartest so I’ll look into this situation first and look at the previously dubbed Texas Tesla, Jones.

The man has a motor on him that’s for sure. If he hits a hole and finds space he is gone. 50.5 can happen on one run for Rojo, which makes this big play player so nice. The one thing that might lean you to the less, like I instinctively thought, was the presence of Fournette. Looking at last year, Rojo still averaged a robust 69.9 yards per game with Lenny. So what’s to stop him tonight? Nothing really!

We’re not looking for touchdowns (if we were, that’s a different story). While looking at Jones game logs I can see the potential to worry bit fear not. As hesitant as I was for Zeke facing Tampas strong run defense, Dallas is the Yang to Yin. Dallas was one of the most atrocious teams against the run, ranking 31st last year. As I said in the Elliot piece it’s early (literally the first game). I think it will take a few games to get in sync. Hopefully that will allow for some big (or big enough) numbers that we need. After looking at the numbers give me the more!
