We also assist those transitioning back to the community from residential care or custody. We are delighted to announce we have been awarded funding for the #SharedIsland Creative Youth Partnerships scheme, to bring children and young people together North and South to nurture collaboration and active participation in creative projects. Our successful project involves working with 20 young people from Belfast and Dublin who have mental-health needs by providing a safe space for them to tell their stories through interactive theatre techniques. These comprehensive sessions, commissioned by the Public Health Agency, are designed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective support and interventions that reduce harm and promote well-being. Our training covers a diverse spectrum of crucial topics, including: Opioid Overdose Response Naloxone Administration Reducing Injecting-Related Harms Needle and Syringe Provision By empowering professionals with up-to-date knowledge and essential skills, we aim to foster a more informed and effective response to the complex challenges of substance use and harm reduction. The Community Crisis Intervention Service (CCIS) at Extern provides immediate, short-term support to individuals in acute distress, offering a compassionate response in times of crisis. Our team is trained to offer a range of interventions, including NADA Ear Acupuncture, which is known for its benefits in reducing stress, anxiety, and trauma. NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) Ear Acupuncture is a simple, yet powerful technique that involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the ear. It can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and emotional distress, making it an excellent addition to our crisis intervention toolkit. By integrating NADA Ear Acupuncture, we enhance our ability to support those in need with holistic, non-invasive methods that complement our existing services.
